Who We Are?

Christopher van Lennep Hyland:

Bio

My private practice in the Healing Arts spans over 25 years. Over this time I innovated my own approach to mind-body therapy, Expressive BodyWork. I have worked with hundreds of men and women in individual sessions, groups, and experiential workshops and retreats in the U.S.

Originally, my practice focused primarily on the physical nature of transformation, working as a Certified Massage Therapist, (graduate, Potomac Massage Training Institute, 1982). I attended Skidmore College from 1986 through 1989, majoring in Clinical Psychology, while concurrently studying body centered psychotherapy, (Washington Institute for Body Psychotherapy, graduate 1989). For five years, I led men's therapy groups at the Therapy Center in Alexandria , VA , (1988, - 1992), blending Expressive BodyWork and traditional psychotherapy into a creative and powerful healing matrix. For the past 14 years my work has been entirely devoted to working with individual clients and co-leading workshops, retreats and intensives with my wife Denise Hyland.
